this is my (first) (unfinished) embroidery sampler

my surface netting stitch, satin stitch, and lazy daisy stitches are a little sloppy, maybe a little juvenile but this is a sampler, and like an appetizer sampler, everything on the plate isn't always to die for.

in this case, the surface netting stitch (bottom left) would be mini quesadillas--a nice idea, but too messy. the little flowers shown in the top left of the full image--lazy daisys--are like jalapeño poppers...which is to say, so cheesy that it makes you gag a little. dragging this analogy even further, the satin stitching (top right) is a little bit confusing, kind of like those tiny hamburgers that people think are okay to eat along with a "main course,". (arrogant aside: a plate piled with red meat, cheese and bread is a full meal whether "bite-sized" or not.)
